US Senator: Pakistan played a double role in the US defeat in Afghanistan

At least four months after the Taliban re-ruled Afghanistan, the Taliban came to power and declared that they had defeated the United States and entered Kabul victoriously. The Taliban came to power in Afghanistan when former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled as US troops withdrew.

At the time, the world believed that various factors had led to the collapse of the republican system in Afghanistan. But officials in Washington thought that the main reason for the regime’s failure in Afghanistan was the fugitive president. In the latest case, US senators have pointed their fingers at Pakistan, stressing that Islamabad was part of the cause of the collapse of the West’s 20-year achievements in Afghanistan.

Bob Menendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told US media that one of the reasons for the failure of the US mission in Afghanistan was Pakistan’s role in providing safe havens for the Taliban and called for serious talks with the Pakistani government. Pakistan has been accused of double standards in Afghanistan over the past two decades. Still, senior officials have repeatedly stressed that they want a stable Afghanistan in the region and its efforts to bring peace and stability to the area. This country supports.

According to international relations experts, Pakistan has always played a double game with the United States and Kabul during this period. Still, the wrong policies of American politicians have been the main reason the Pakistanis have gained more courage to promote a double game in Afghanistan.

“Unfortunately, the mistakes of American politicians have been a major factor in encouraging Pakistan, because the mistakes of American politicians have led Islamabad to support anti-government groups in Afghanistan and to support “On the other hand, the country has tried to convince the ruling governments in Afghanistan that the only player who can bring peace in Islamabad.”

At the same time, it is believed that the mistakes of Afghan politicians in dealing with Pakistan have been one of the critical factors in the failure of the Afghan system and the loss of world achievements in Afghanistan. Earlier, Zalmai Khalilzad said in an interview with VOA that the main reason for the regime’s collapse in Afghanistan was the Taliban Emirate and the President of Afghanistan. Khalilzad stressed that Ashraf Ghani was one of the leading figures in the anti-peace process and that his wrong decisions caused the peace process to fail and the Taliban to seize power in Afghanistan suddenly.

Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that the United States had made mistakes during its 20-year war on terrorism in Afghanistan and that Pakistan had to bear the brunt of the situation. This statement comes when Islamabad is still participating in international meetings on behalf of the Islamic Emirate and has always stressed that the political isolation of the Taliban in the region and the world will not be in the interest of any country.
